Introduction to Archaeology: Key Stage 1 and 2

Pupils will learn about the development of archaeology and what archaeology tells us about everyday life thousands of years ago.  Pupils will discover about recording techniques used by archaeologists and listen to a talk about the work of an archaeologist.

  • Tour of the Dorset County Museum Archaeology Gallery
  • Handle and examine a range of artefacts from different periods
  • Piece together skeletons (not real ones) and learn about the importance of skeletons to our understanding of people who lived thousands of years ago
