The countdown to the opening of the Museum has begun with a team of builders, contractors, specialist designers and conservators working behind the scenes to piece it all together.

Excitingly, the base-build of the new Collections Discovery Centre, located in the basement is now complete, as is the concrete framing for the ground floor gallery, Natural Dorset, and the Temporary Exhibition gallery. Within the historic building, the shop, café, kitchen and toilet areas are all taking shape, and most of the first-fix mechanical and electrical systems are now in place.

We’re delighted to be working with leading UK-based design practice Real Studios and specialist contractors The Hub who will work alongside our construction company Acheson to create a vibrant and immersive interior in our galleries.

The new Museum opening later this year, will be complete with four new galleries, a learning centre, collections storage, a library and visitor facilities.
